Modernization, Beyond Our ImaginationAs Ito Hirobumi had helped Japan modernize, we tired to emphasis this point by creating a slogan that was creative with a lot of meaning when thought carefully. "Beyond Our Imagination," was created to show the impact that it would have on the Japanese population. While development from the imagination is a tremendous amount, as our imagination consists of futuristic ideas that we believe would never happen, Beyond imagination was created to say that Ito Hirobumi had done many things for Japan that people had never even thought of.
Ito Hirobumi's Beliefs/Actions 1. Began modernization in Japan
2. Change Japanese soldiers' weapons - Bows and Arrows to Rifles and Canons
3. Sought cooperation between Asian countries to fight off Western influences 4. He was against the annexation of Korea, instead wanting to make it a protectorate.
5. Although he worried about Asia being absorbed by the West, he took quite a few ideas from Western political system. He studied in England, and thus became very good at English during the time when Western culture started to enter Japan. He created the cabinet system in government while he held the position of prime minister, and also employed an American as his advisor. He revolutionized the educational system of Japan, and held power even after he stepped down from the role of prime minister, remaining an influential political figure
6. He did not want Korea under Chinese or Russian rule. 7. He was son of lower-class samurai, who earned the class through hard work. Although the status did little good, it was only due to this that he was able to be educated.
8. During the battle between Bakufu and Choshu, he worked to drive out conservatives who seeked to cooperate with Bakufu.
9. He rose quickly in ranks through his success in many political situations, such as the debate between Choshu and Satsuma.
